Seattle‘s Holiday Parade of Lights can be especially enjoyed as you join in the celebration when taking an unforgettable Festive Dining Cruise aboard a beautiful yacht amid dozens of decorated boats. See the breathtaking views and dazzling displays of lights from the spacious open-air decks when you are dressed in warm clothing or from the climate-controlled salons as you cruise along scheduled routes to different Puget Sound locations.
Some of Seattle’s most spectacular sights are visible only from the water, and that includes waterfront mansions of the world’s rich and famous and views of the city’s Yuletide decorations. The joyful singing of carolers from some of the area’s best choirs adds to the excitement of holiday sounds at this very special time of year.
For example, on Sunday, Dec. 15, a cruise will depart from the Waterways HomePort at 4:15 p.m. and return at 7:45 p.m. Rain or shine, the yacht provides a comfortable ride regardless of the weather. Advance ticket purchase is required on all cruises. Special pricing is available on many cruises for groups of eight or more.
Set sail with other brightly decked-out boats, and begin your journey by sipping on a champagne toast after you are welcomed aboard. Listen to the hilarious and friendly Captain as he gives narrations as you pass by the sights. Dance to live music and entertainment in a holiday atmosphere. Beverages such as handcrafted cocktails and hot apple cider will be available for purchase on board, and it is said that the hot buttered rum is delightful!
A delicious buffet of holiday favorites will have many courses. Included will be such tasty dishes as a salad with bib lettuce, grilled pear, brie and pecans; Tomato Bisque with caramelized onions; slow-roasted turkey breast; house-made cranberry sauce; meringue-topped Maple Yam Casserole; stuffing with chestnuts and apples; Potatoes Au Gratin; green beans with sliced almonds and tarragon butter; fresh baked artisan breads and more.
Top the fabulous meal off with pecan, blackberry and pumpkin pies topped with whipped vanilla cream. Wine, flowers, chocolate-covered strawberries or personalized cakes to celebrate a birthday or anniversary are available to complement your dining experience if requested in advance.
A favorite annual tradition and an enjoyable holiday experience in Seattle is this Parade of Christmas Ships, which began more than 60 years ago.
It is definitely a treat for those participating on the boats and for those watching. Every night during this month-long celebration, lighted boats with Christmas lights and decorations cruise the waterways of Seattle and neighboring communities.
The lead ship is the Argosy “Spirit of Seattle”, which has a local choral group on board with its music beautifully amplified out over the water. The festival starts the weekend after Thanksgiving and goes through until shortly before Christmas.
