Walking trails are available like Correll Park Trail and Lakeridge Estates Walking Trial and Pond. There is a Boys and Girls Club with an indoor supervised play area as well as a Senior Activity Center to cater to those of all ages. Also available to visit is ConocoPhillips Sports Complex with baseball and softball fields available for reservation. With so many parks and activity centers available, you will be sure to always have something to do.
Community Events and Facilities
Organizations and facilities for fun are all over the place as well. A Big Brothers and Sisters organization is set up to help keep the younger generation busy and out of trouble. The Ferndale Heritage Society is available to educate visitors on the history of the county and promote tourism to the area. The Ferndale Public Library has many books, compact disks, and movies available to rent.
Whatcom County Old Settlers Association is a group of volunteers who run an annual Old Settlers Picnic and Grand Parade. The Wahtcom Family YMCA promotes youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Events in the area include Downtown Trick or Treat in October, a community garage sale, the Ferndale Business Expo, a Street Festival and Music Festival, and a 5k race.
The Ferndale School District includes great public schools available to educate your children well. Seven Elementary Schools are available including Beach, Cascadia, Central, Custer, Eagleridge, Mountain View, and Skyline Elementary Schools. Two middle schools are part of the district by the names of Horizon and Vista Middle Schools.
Also available are two high schools for the young adults of the area. Ferndale High School and Windward High School are great places for your children to graduate and start looking for places to further their educations.
